Setting the record straight. Demi Lovato opened up about the side-eye Nicki Minaj gave her at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala in New York City on Monday, May 2.
The drama began when Minaj, 33, posted a photo of herself, Lovato, 23, and Jeremy Scott, the fashion designer who created both of the musicians’ gowns for this year’s Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology–themed affair. The “Anaconda” rapper tagged Scott, 40, and Moschino but did not mention Lovato in the ‘gram.

The former Disney star took to Snapchat and seemingly hinted that Minaj’s failure to tag her in the photo unnerved her. “When you aren’t mentioned in a post but didn’t do s–t to the person,” Lovato wrote alongside a funny-filtered selfie.

Later, the “Confident” songstress shared the now-viral pic of Minaj seemingly glaring at her. “This picture pretty much summed up my first and probably last met 😂😂😂,” she captioned the snap, adding a slew of hashtags including “#whatsgood,” the infamous line Minaj used against Miley Cyrus in their onstage showdown at the 2015 Video Music Awards.
After speculation of a feud made its way online, Lovato updated her Instagram post, insisting that she is completely unbothered by the apparent shade that was thrown her way by Minaj.

“Some of y’all need to learn how to take a joke,” the Staying Strong author wrote. “I’m obviously laughing at the fact that 1. I look incredibly awkward and 2. That the shade being thrown in this picture actually gives me life 🙌🏼😂..”
